  • Giving Rokid Style Smart Glasses One Last Chance
    2026/07/01
In episode 299 of iCantCU, I give the Rokid Style smart glasses one more chance after a string of frustrating failures with voice commands, recording, and general reliability. With some strange iPhone issues possibly contributing to the problems, I'm heading to the Genius Bar before leaving for Austin and the National Federation of the Blind National Convention. I also talk about the word "blind" and why people should not be afraid to use it. Blindness is not a dirty word, and dancing around it often makes things more awkward than simply saying what it is. I also touch on why braille still matters, especially for blind students learning spelling, grammar, and the written word. Plus, I share updates on hiring a virtual assistant, preparing for the NFB National Convention, working on the NFB of Pennsylvania website and convention sponsorship forms, selling chocolate-covered pretzels in Austin, planning the Keystone Chapter's Coast to Coast Movement Challenge walk to Cira Green, and giving an update on Ziggy, who remains a golden menace even while going through lymphoma treatment. White Canes Connect Podcast In this episode of White Canes Connect, David Goldstein welcomes Rich Crawford for a wide-ranging conversation about blindness, independence, work, leadership, and the power of high expectations. Rich became legally blind at age 10 due to retinitis pigmentosa. Rather than lowering expectations, his parents encouraged him to try things, work hard, and figure out alternative ways to get the job done. That mindset carried him from public school to college, from community action work to a 41-year career in financial services.
