Eddie, Melody, and Liza are suspicious of the new school secretary when strange things begin happening in and around Bailey Elementary School.

After that, Coach Graves has a vacant look in her eyes, mumbles and groans in response to the kids, and moves like she's back from the dead.

The Bailey School kids meet the tallest man they have ever seen in the snowboarding teacher at the Golden Egg Ski Lodge, and Liza, remembering the tale of the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk, searches for clues.

When the class takes a field trip to the opera, they meet a strange man playing violin in the orchestra whom they believe could be the phantom who haunts the Bailey City Opera House.

The students at Bailey School try to overcome their fears and their imaginations when they meet the new football coach and student teacher, Mr. Bogey, whom everyone begins to think may be the Bogeyman.

Clad in dark clothing and with a hollow and forlorn look on her face, Scout tells the kids that she's in town to find a house for the family she works for. Melody even says she saw the woman spreading her wings! Could the newcomer really have come to Bailey City on a miracle mission?
