A Russian author and poet of the Romantic era, Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837) is widely regarded as the father of modern Russian literature. This audiobook contains four of his famous stories.

This novel is the first prose work of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837). It was written in 1827-1828 and first published in 1837. The novel begins with a portrait of the manners and morals of French society in the first quarter of 18th century, with Ibrahim's life in Paris, his success in society, and his love affair with a countess. However, "summoned both by Peter [the Great] and by his own vague sense of duty," Ibrahim returns to Russia.

In 1820 he was banished to the Caucasus for writing and promoting liberal views. Deprived of his social life, Pushkin devoted himself to his writing and bequeathed to the world some of the greatest poetry and stories ever written. He met his death in a duel in 1837.

Eugene Onegin is the master work of the poet whom Russians regard as the fountainhead of their literature. Set in 1820s imperial Russia, Pushkin's novel in verse follows the emotions and destiny of three men - Onegin the bored fop, Lensky the minor elegiast, and a stylized Pushkin himself - and the fates and affections of three women - Tatyana the provincial beauty, her sister Olga, and Pushkin's mercurial Muse.
