"I tre moschettieri" ("Les trois mousquetaires") è un romanzo scritto dal francese Alexandre Dumas con la collaborazione di Auguste Maquet nel 1844 e pubblicato originariamente a puntate sul giornale "Le Siècle". È uno dei romanzi più famosi e tradotti della letteratura francese e mondiale. The Count of Monte Cristo follows the sailor Edmond Dantès, who is falsely accused of treason on his wedding day and then imprisoned in an infamous island fortress without a trial. Tandis qu'à Paris, le cardinal Mazarin est sur sa fin, le prétendant au trône de Grande-Bretagne, Charles, accompagné par le valet Parry, est venu en France pour demander à son cousin Louis XIV de l'argent pour lui permettre de reprendre son trône. Alors que Louis s'engage à le faire, son ministre Mazarin le contraint à refuser l'aide promise. D'Artagnan, toujours lieutenant et témoin de la scène, présente sa démission au roi, qu'il trouve trop faible face au ministre.
