Srimad Bhagavatam, "The Beautiful Science of God", is a systematic revelation of the Supreme. In this fifth canto we learn of God’s greatness, how his supreme will keeps everything in perfect order. We first meet the powerful King Priyavrata, who rose to the heavens like a second sun to dissipate the darkness of night and create the divisions of Bhumandala. Then comes his son Agnidhra, who weds the celestial beauty Purvachitti and begets on her nine sons, who each become a lord of one of the provinces of Jambudvipa, the great earthly island on which we reside.

Originally an epic Sanskrit poem of some hundred thousand verses said to have been composed 5,000 years ago, Mahabharata is one of the most revered and loved stories of all time. It plunges us into a wondrous and ancient world of romance and adventure when men knew that there are greater powers than us controlling the universe. Passed down through the ages by bards and poets, Mahabharata has enthralled audiences for countless generations.

This book provides one of the clearest and most graphic descriptions of what it is like to live permanently in this amazing state. It also provides a clear, concise, and logical exposition of the physiological mechanism responsible for illumination, genius, inspired creativity, and paranormal phenomena. In November of 1978, while on a visit to New York to speak at the United Nations, Gopi Krishna was interviewed by Dr. Louis Rogers, author of numerous books and publisher of Inner Paths magazine. The interview covered a wide range of topics, including the personal experience of kundalini, meditation, mantras, miracles, psychic phenomena, and the most effective way to achieve success in a spiritual practice.

The series Brilliant as the Sun aims to make this sublime work accessible to any listener by presenting it in the style of a modern novel. Adhering closely to the original text, it brings out the deep meaning of Srimad Bhagavatam and helps the listener easily follow its flow. In this fourth volume, we hear about the appearance of Vishnu’s stupendous boar incarnation, Lord Varaha, who rescues the earth from the demon Hiranyaksha. We also meet the great sage Kardama, who marries Devahuti, daughter of the earth’s emperor Manu.
