In this podcast Paul challenges Timothy to be a soldier, farmer and fighter for Christ. He talks about these 3 groups being sold out to win the battles, crops and prize of the crown. Timothy must persist and suffer for this victory in Christ and His church to occur. If Timothy doesn’t persist on carrying the torch for Christ the church could suffer and give in to false teaching thus be destroyed. Timothy must serve God diligently and set an example for others.

Paul was about to be martyred for his faith by Nero and he knew that he needed to encourage Timothy to stand strong against false Gnosticism once he was gone. Paul also wanted to remind Timothy of his solid faith in Christ. He did this by using his own faith as an example and his own persistence as example.
