  • Why Blue Jays Fans Are Right to Be Upset 😤 + UFC 327 & Wilder Chaos
    2026/04/08

The Blue Jays' season is still young… but the frustration is already real.

In this episode of Couch Potato Diary, I open with an honest rant about the Jays’ slow start and why being frustrated doesn’t mean you think the team is bad. It just means expectations are higher.

Then we shift to combat sports with a Fight Night First Look at UFC 327, including a huge opportunity in the light heavyweight division with the title now vacated.

Finally, I break down one of the strangest heavyweight fights in recent memory as Deontay Wilder takes on Derek Chisora in a chaotic, high-level bout that didn’t go the way anyone expected.

    🏒⚾🥊 Topics:

    • Intro (0:00)
    • Why Blue Jays fans have every right to be frustrated (0:59)
    • UFC 327 Fight Night First Look (10:09)
    • Wilder vs Chisora recap (and why it got weird) (15:04)
    • Outro (23:55)

  • Blue Jays Bounce Back + NHL Eastern Playoff Race Heats Up | Couch Potato Diary Diary Entries
    2026/04/01

Bringing back the original plan for the podcast. Diary Entries is where I go through my notebook after a night of watching sports and break down exactly what I saw, just honest reactions from a night on the couch.

The Blue Jays bounced back against the Rockies, and there were some encouraging signs worth talking about heading into what should be a big stretch of the season.

Then the NHL Eastern Conference playoff race got a lot more interesting. Montreal beating Tampa Bay is a result with real implications for how the East is going to shake out with less than a month to go. Pittsburgh handled Detroit. Buffalo picked up a massive win over the Islanders that keeps their playoff push very much alive. A quick thought on a frustrating Raptors loss to the Pistons that should not have happened. And Carolina doing what Carolina does to close out a win over Columbus.

A lot of ground covered. A lot of notebook pages are filled.

  • Blue Jays 2026 Season Preview: Pitching Staff Breakdown + Best Bets
    2026/03/27

The Toronto Blue Jays season is here, and the expectations are sky high. In this episode of Couch Potato Diary, Peter Klein breaks down the biggest strength of this team — the pitching staff — and why it could be the key to a deep postseason run.

Even with early injuries to Jose Berrios, Shane Bieber, and others, the Jays still roll out a deep and dangerous rotation led by Kevin Gausman and Dylan Cease. Peter dives into why Cease could be in for one of the best seasons of his career, how Pete Walker continues to get the most out of his arms, and why the overall depth of this staff is something Toronto hasn’t had in years.

The bullpen gets some attention as well, including whether Jordan Romano can bounce back and how a more balanced group could keep everyone fresh deep into the season.

Then, it’s time for best bets. Peter looks at player props for Daulton Varsho and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., makes the case for a strong season from Toronto in the win column, and highlights where the betting market might be underrating this team heading into 2026.

If you’re optimistic about the Blue Jays this season, this episode will tell you why that belief might be justified.

  • Blue Jays Optimism, NHL Tiers Chaos & Fixing the NFC | Couch Potato Diary
    2026/03/26

A packed, multi-sport episode of Couch Potato Diary with Peter Klein.

With the Blue Jays season getting underway, I take a look at the lineup and why I’m more optimistic than most. The loss of Bo Bichette is massive, but there are a couple of players who could step into bigger roles, including Daulton Varsho and Addison Barger, and help keep this offense afloat. Add in a coaching staff that has consistently gotten the most out of its depth, and there are reasons to believe this group could surprise people.

From there, I break down the NHL with less than a month to go by putting every team into tiers, and there are some takes. The Leafs land in the “Uh-Oh” category, while teams like Boston and New Jersey fall into “NPC” territory. At the top, a handful of true contenders look ready for a deep run, but a few teams are lurking that could make things very interesting.

Finally, I wrap things up by doing for the NFC what I did for the AFC, assigning one free-agent signing to each team to fix or elevate their roster heading into next season.

    In This Episode:

    • Intro (0:00)
    • Blue Jays Line Up Preview (0:33)
    • NHL Tier Rankings (9:48)
    • One FA for each NFC Team (31:08)
    • Outro (39:33)

    2026/03/25

The MLB 2026 preview wraps up with a massive episode covering every team, the coaches and players facing the most pressure this season, and a World Series prediction I am fully prepared to defend.

I go over and under on every single MLB team's win total, all thirty of them, and explain the reasoning behind the ones that might surprise you. There are some teams I am going against the grain on in both leagues, and a couple of picks that Blue Jays fans in particular are going to want to hear.

Then I look at the managers whose seats are getting warm heading into 2026, one in particular has been given every resource imaginable and keeps coming up short at the biggest moments. And the players whose 2026 seasons could define where their careers go from here, including a former top prospect who needs to remind everyone why the hype was real, and baseball's contact king, who could only land a one-year prove-it deal and now has to prove it.

And I close with my World Series prediction. Blue Jays over Braves. I said it.

Then I look at one free agent signing that would help each AFC team heading into 2026. Every team, one move, no fluff.

Movsar Evloev and Leron Murphy put on a genuinely excellent fight at UFC Fight Night, and I break down why both fighters showed they belong at a high level — and what the close decision result means for where each of them goes from here.

  • MLB 2026 Preview: Best Players, Breakout Stars & Overvalued Teams + Raptors, NHL, NFL & WWE SmackDown | Couch Potato Diary
    2026/03/23

A massive multi-sport episode of Couch Potato Diary with Peter Klein covering everything from baseball season previews to hockey suspensions to wrestling recaps.

The MLB preview takes centre stage. I reveal my top ten best players in baseball heading into 2026, the three breakout candidates worth keeping an eye on, including a Blue Jays name on that list, and the five teams I think are being significantly overvalued heading into the season. Some of these might surprise you.

Then I look at four teams that need a strong 2026 more than anyone else in baseball.

The Toronto Raptors are in a fascinating spot in the Eastern Conference standings, and Ja'Kobe Walter is giving this team something to feel good about. But there is a real problem lurking beneath the surface that could hurt them when it matters most.

On the NHL side, the Oilers are running out of time to blow their position, but something needs to change. And the AJ Greer suspension, or lack thereof, has me genuinely furious, and I am not holding back on why the NHL's discipline department has completely lost the plot.

The best remaining NFL free agents are still out there, and I run through the ten names that should still be generating serious interest from contenders.

And WWE SmackDown had its moments this week, but mostly felt like a filler episode, with one genuinely excellent match and a tag title change that opens up some interesting possibilities.

    In this Episode

    • Intro (0:00)
    • MLB Preview: Top 10 Players (0:44)
    • MLB Preview: 2026 Breakout Candidates (6:50)
    • MLB Preview: Most Overrated Teams (9:19)
    • MLB Preview: Teams Under the Most Pressure (14:32)
    • Raptors Weekend Recap (18:04)
    • NHL Weekend Recap (23:57)
    • Best NFL FA available (32:09)
    • WWE Smackdown Recap (37:00)
