  • Relentless Love | A God Who Is Near (Jonah 2)
    2026/07/12

When we reach the end of ourselves—at the very bottom of the "sea" of our despair—God is not distant but is present to bring us back up and save us from our sinful ways. Jonah correctly sees the fish not as a place of punishment but as a womb of grace, where the Law does its work of crushing his Old Adam and the Gospel raises him up as a new creature who joyfully confesses, “Salvation is from the Lord.” Through his experience Jonah then becomes a type of Christ himself, who came near to us and dwelled among us so that he could die, spend three days and nights in the earth, and then be raised for the salvation of both Jews like Jonah and Gentiles.

  • Relentless Love | A Prophet Far From God (Jonah 1:1-17)
    2026/07/05

Chapter one of Jonah confronts the persistent reality of the Old Adam within the believer, who seeks to flee from the presence of the Lord when his will conflicts with personal comfort or prejudice. Although Jonah was sent to proclaim God’s message to bring an entire nation close to him, the prophet’s own heart was far away from God and his purposes. Jonah’s running from God was not merely a rejection of a task, but a futile attempt to escape from the very Source of life and mercy and to pursue life on his own terms. Thankfully for Jonah and for us, he is the God who would rather send a storm to shatter our ships than allow us to perish in our rebellion.

  • Branches | Bearing Real Confidence (1 John 1)
    2026/06/28

At times, we might raise doubts about or throw accusations against God’s love. Suffering, injustice, and personal pain can cause confusion regarding God’s great love. John affirms that God is love. This is not sentiment. It is action—demonstrated supremely through the sending of his Son, Jesus Christ, to be the Savior of the world. This perfect love of God drives out fear. Our fear of judgment can be replaced with confidence and assurance. When we have received God’s love, we also reflect his love. As God’s children, we are empowered to love others with the same selfless, sacrificial love, becoming living testimonies of His grace. Encourage your people to allow God’s love to overflow into their relationships, leading others out of fear and into faith.
