  • Diaspora Duty: James Lester on his Trinidad & Tobago call-up
    2026/04/01

A huge international break saw the final World Cup places decided, with some of our Diaspora Duty contingent confirming their summer plans. Burnley defender Axel Tuanzebe scored his first DR Congo goal to see off a Jamaica side that handed a debut to a London-born Spurs youngster in their crucial play-off. Meanwhile, in Europe, Graham Potter led Sweden to a remarkable qualification after failing to win any games in their group stage (respect the Nations League, folks).

Elsewhere, Somalia made the group stage of AFCON Qualifying for the first time in their history, thanks in part to three British born or raised starters (including Baller League headline-maker Sak Hassan), South Londoner Martial Godo gets a goal and assist on his first Ivory Coast senior cap, while a debut Austria goal for Carney Chukwuemeka sends a dagger to Ghanaian hearts to perhaps appease any Nigerian fans he chose not to play for...

Plus, a special interview with 19-year-old Llanelli defender James Lester, who was a surprise call-up for Trinidad & Tobago in this international break. We hear about his family connection to the Soca Warriors and his experience jetting from the Cymru Premier to Bolivia!
