  • My Tiny Daily Habit that Stops Me Obsessing and Gaining Weight
    2026/05/04

For years, I avoided weighing myself.

I thought it would make me obsess more. So I didn’t do it.

But here’s the irony: I was obsessing constantly anyway.

Every time my clothes felt tight, every time someone I hadn’t seen in a while asked if I was still running, my brain would spiral. Do they think I’ve gained weight? Have I?

Then I read my friend Darya Rose’s book Foodist, where she recommends experimenting with weighing yourself every single day — without shame or pride — as a way to actually stop the obsession.

I decided to give it a go. It changed everything.

Not only did I know exactly where I stood (no more guessing), but I also discovered that after a big eating day, the damage was almost always much smaller than my brain had convinced me it was.

And the most beautiful unexpected bonus?

Doing this daily helped me separate my self-worth from the number on the scale. I no longer see myself as a better person when the number is lower, or a worse person when it’s higher.

  • The Eat More Cookies Strategy that Helped My Client Go Below Her Goal Weight
    2026/04/20

One of my clients recently hit a fun milestone: she went below her goal weight.

When that happens, I always unpack exactly how she got there — because understanding what worked is just as important as the result itself.

    What she didn’t do:

    • cut out sugar,
    • go on a shake fast,
    • or willpower her way through cravings.
    • What she did do: have a really good cookie most nights.

  • I rebelled from the clean plate club. Here's why it was one of my best decisions...
    2026/04/06

I was raised in a family where you had to finish your plate.

Children were starving in Africa, and that meant I had to eat all my peas.

Fast-forward 40-odd years, and I was still automatically cleaning my plate every single meal. It wasn’t a conscious decision — it was just what you did.

Then, when I started working with a coach and learning how to listen to my body, one of the first things we did was practice leaving food on the plate.

And when I started doing that? All my struggles with food just melted away. Like, seriously.

Because previously, if I’d overeaten or snacked too much while cooking, I would still finish my plate at dinner. Which meant I ate way more than I needed — and that just kept the cycle going. When I gave myself permission to leave food behind, everything changed.

  • I Intentionally Lost Weight in December. Here’s Exactly How…
    2026/03/30

Back in December, I found myself wondering what it would feel like to lose a little weight.

I’d been sitting at the same weight for a while, and I was curious.

Not in a punishing, “I need to fix myself” way — more like a genuine experiment. Could I actually lose weight in December, of all months?

    So I decided to try.

My goal was small and specific: lose one kilo (about two pounds). And by the end of the month, I’d done it.

    Here’s exactly how.

  • The Power of Snacking
    2026/03/23

I used to believe the old dieting advice: you shouldn’t eat between meals.

But recently I was coaching two different people and suggested they plan in an afternoon snack.

For both of them, it made a huge difference to how much they were eating across the whole day — with a knock-on effect on weight.

It also reminded me of my own shift from thinking I shouldn’t snack, to actually giving myself permission to plan one in.

Intentional snacking was a game-changer for stopping my own overeating in the evenings.

  • One Tiny Powerful Habit to Build Self Trust with Sugar
    2026/03/16

I celebrated my half birthday last week — 53 and a half, (highly recommend celebrating half birthdays by the way).

    I spent the day baking.

A spiced apple cake with brown butter frosting.

    Cookies for school lunches.

    The works.

And here’s the thing that still blows my mind: I did all of that baking, with all that raw dough and frosting within arm’s reach, and I didn’t end up feeling sick or out of control.

I had exactly what I intended to have.

I followed through on my plan.

Baking should be one of life’s simple joys. But for so many of us, it’s fraught.

    This tiny habit changes that.
