  • Beyond Pain: Creating Safety and Trust for Ecstatic Birth
    2026/05/18

In this episode of The Orgasmic Birth Podcast, Debra Pascali-Bonaro speaks with Joni Edelmann, a birth guide, educator, and former labor and delivery nurse who brings together science, sacredness, and decades of birth experience. Together, they explore how safety, nervous system regulation, privacy, and trust can create the conditions for ecstatic birth in any setting, including the hospital. Joni shares the story of her own births, including how her fifth birth became the first she experienced as truly not painful, but deeply intense, joyful, and transformative. She also reflects on how pregnancy, birth, trauma awareness, and support from trusted care providers can shape not only birth outcomes, but a person's sense of power and possibility.

This conversation offers practical insight into:

    • What safety really means in birth.
    • How trauma can affect the nervous system and labor.
    • Ways to support parasympathetic regulation.
    • Why privacy, quiet, and trust matter so much.
    • How to process birth experiences that were difficult or disappointing.
    • Why the birth you dream of may be more possible than you think.
    • Joni also reminds listeners that choosing the right support team matters, and that people deserve care aligned with their values, goals, and vision for birth.

Joni Edelman is a birth guide, educator, and former labor and delivery nurse who holds science and sacred at the same altar. With three decades of experience supporting birth in hospitals and homes, she helps families reconnect with the innate intelligence of the body and approach birth as a powerful, transformative, and potentially ecstatic experience.

  • The Creative Womb: Where birth, pleasure, loss, and healing become one story
    2026/05/06

In this episode, Debra Pascali-Bonaro speaks with Josefina Schiller, a mother, singer, doula, translator, and host of Café Comparto Birth Café, about how birth, motherhood, sexuality, loss, and healing are deeply connected. Josefina shares two powerful home birth stories, including a 96-hour labor supported by her community in southern Spain, and reflects on how birth helped her heal ancestral and childhood wounds.

Josefina also discusses the role of postpartum as a transformative period, how writing poetry became a creative outlet during mothering, and why she believes oxytocin, pleasure, and sisterhood are central to healing. She closes by sharing her band Samambaia, her website josefinas.art, and a community art project called Track Your Woman's Bleed.

Josefina Schiller is a mother, singer, doula, and devoted lover of birth stories. Josefina was born in Brazil and now lives in the south of Spain in a spontaneous community centered around natural birth. She trained as a doula at Da-a-Luz Oasis in 2017 and has deeply studied the work of Argentine writer and thinker Laura Gutman, whose teachings supported Josefina through the early years of mothering her daughters, Cora and Greta. She is the host of the podcast "Café com Parto" (Birth Café) — inspired by my dreams and vision — and currently works translating books, including her favorite work by Laura Gutman on the postpartum period.

  • Pelvic Floor Health - Why Peeing (when you don't want to) after Birth Isn't Normal
    2026/04/21

In this bold and deeply informative episode of the Orgasmic Birth Podcast, Debra Pascali-Bonaro sits down with pelvic floor expert Jana Danielson to challenge long-held myths about women's bodies, postpartum healing, and pleasure.

From incontinence to pain during sex to diminished orgasm, many women are told these experiences are "normal" after birth. Jana offers a powerful reframe: they may be common — but they are not normal, and they are not something women have to live with.

Together, they explore how pelvic floor health is foundational not only for birth and recovery, but for lifelong vitality, confidence, and pleasure.

Jana shares her personal journey from chronic illness and disconnection to healing through breath and movement — a path that ultimately led her to develop the Cooch Ball and her unique approach to pelvic floor fitness.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • Why "just do your Kegels" may be outdated — and even harmful

    • The difference between a tight pelvic floor and a strong one

    • How breath and posture directly impact pelvic floor function

    • Why symptoms like leaking, pain, and low libido are signals — not life sentences

    • The connection between pelvic floor health and orgasmic potential

This conversation is a powerful invitation to reconnect with your body, reclaim your health, and redefine what's possible — at every stage of life.
